Launched earlier this year, DK Defenders has been piloted with deaf children across several schools in South Africa and Pakistan and the results are remarkable.

Involving 620 deaf children the pilot study demonstrated how DK Defenders brought huge benefits to deaf children by teaching them about the dangers and equipping them with the skills to deal with situations both online and in the real world.

Where before children were unaware, unsure and scared of the prospect of being abused, they ended the games feeling happier, empowered, and more confident about their ability to steer clear of danger.

While teachers and parents reported increased awareness of the issues and felt more able to help the children deal with them.
